Linda Sydick Napaltjarri (c. 1937) has distinguished herself in the early 1990s contemporary Indigenous Australian art movement, with a fusion of Christian and Aboriginal traditional themes and symbols. Her pieces have been finalists in the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards four times and the Blake Prize three times. Galleries in Australia and abroad own her works. Additionally, a portrait of her by Robert Hannaford was a 1992 Archibald Prize finalist. She paints "Sulky Man" and "Kangaroo Man" stories blending myth and observations of traditional desert life. Her signature style is that of a windmill, a structure encountered as her family left the desert, interpreted as a monster.
