Polly Ngale was born in around 1940 in the remote Utopia station, Northern Territory (350km northeast of Alice Springs). Utopia has a thriving artist community and is the birthplace of many celebrated artists, including Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Polly is a senior custodian of her Dreaming “Arnwetky” (Bush Plum) and the sacred women’s ceremony sites associated with her land. Polly’s interpretation of her Dreaming is executed in a layered dotting technique, mimicking the colours and shapes of the “Arnwetky”. The result has an overall soft and feminie appearance, a beautiful modern expression of the age old women’s Dreaming. Polly’s artworks have been widely recognised around the world. Including the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award in 2003, the Contemporary Art Fair in Paris and the Emily Kngwarreye Legacy exhibition in Daikanyama Tokyo 2008.Framing can be organised on request, please email hello@lajarri.com with the artwork name and size for a framing price.
