George Hairbrush Tjungurrayi
Born within the year of 1947, North-west of Kiwirrkurra near Kintore. Mr Tjungurrayi started painting in 1976 after travelling from the desert, to become one of youngest male artist to paint for the Papunya Tula Art movement.
“Tingari” depicts his creation story, the creation of his country and its sacred sites.
Mr Tjunggurrayi works have been internationally recognised with his work being exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, United states of America, France and the Netherlands. Mr Tjungurrayi was title to be the most collected artist in 2008 by The Australian Art Collector Magazine and in 2018 had his work exhibited in the 21ts Biennale of Sydney (which is regarded as one of the leading international contemporary art events).
