Tjawina moved from Docker River to Papanya Tula in the 1970’s and developed her painting during the Desert Art Movement. The artist paints ‘My Country’ which encompasses the traditional Dreaming sites of her birthplace.

The artist has also been influenced by the Dreaming of her father and mother including, ‘Yumara Dreaming’ which tells of a forbidden love story, ‘Punkilpirri Dreaming’ representing a large water site and ‘Tjalili’ representing the geographical area of her country.
Tjawina has since moved back to her country in the Docker River.

Tjawina paints beautifully vibrant and intricate depictions of her Dreaming, which utilise a strong dot style creating a multilayered effect, making her works some of the most collectable in Central Desert Australia.
